India still erects hurdles. Apple hasn’t been able to open its trademark stores because of requirements that foreign retailers purchase 30% of the value of India sales from domestic suppliers—unmanageable in a country with virtually no electronics manufacturing.
Had no idea this was a rule. Hard to see a way in which Apple can overcome this.
I would like to hear a good piece about why there’s no Apple Stores in Korea, especially here in Seoul with our 10 million+ people, 20 million if you count the surrounding areas. With all the third party resellers doing such good business, what’s the hold up?
If I recall correctly, the laws surrounding mobile phone registration, that had been keeping Apple from opening their own stores in Seoul in the first place, have since changed. That was over a year ago, so I’m curious if they’re planning on jumping on that ship when it comes.
